![]() Like you, probably more so, I find it's UI awful and really hard to understand, but I will "not give up" as you say. I think this may be it (short of a new interface or something fancier and $$$). So this cheap DAC would allow me to use the SPDIF output of my Focusrite. Not an ideal solution but better than nothing.Īny other solution will require a different audio interface or aggregating your Focusrite with the computers built-in interface. If you are able, try routing the signal you want to hear to the Right output and the signal you want to process to the Left output. I'm sure you can find one for even less from Amazon or AliExpress.īack in the day when I was working with a Sound Blaster audio interface, I would monitor in mono while tracking (of course I would switch back to stereo for mixing), so I could free up one output for external signal processing. Justin3am wrote:Provided that the S/PDiF output is actually a unique output and not just a mirror of the Monitor output, you could use something like this: The Focusrite audio interfaces are among the better ones out there. Getting the routing right in MixControl is a bit hard to get your head around (at least for me) but eventually you'll get there. ![]() I do this with my saffire, and it works great. this happens when you send the complete mix to the modular and have the modular on one of the input channels. Just be careful to avoid a feedback loop in MixControl. You would only need the correct cable to plug into the modular. So you could route audio from a wav player to the phone out. I see Scarlett Mixcontrol that came with your 18i8 is functionally the same, and allows you to direct any of the inputs to any or both of the headphone outputs. ![]() I have a Focusrite saffire pro and use Saffire MixControl. Seriously, using a second computer is simpler than trying to sort this out. Remember to check with our website as often as possible to stay updated one minute ago. do you have any 3.5mm plug on your computer? You might be able to play those sounds directly using a patch cable Yes, BUT if I switch the mac to internal output I lose my USB interface as output and cannot monitor the sound. Updating the audio version can improve sound quality, resolve different compatibility issues, fix related errors spotted throughout the products usage, add support for new operating systems, and bring various other changes. are the headphone outputs and the monitor outputs separate outputs of the interface from the point of view of your computer? Alas, noĢ. Its zero-latency monitoring and high-quality D/A conversion provide pro options, but this interface is well within shooting range for even start-up studios. Thanks Artaos, I wish I could delete this post as it is hopeless.ġ. TheSaffire range's reputation will be enhanced by this latest addition, which offers a lot for the price but will comfortably fit in a laptop bag. Focusrite has a proud tradition in this area, so perhaps this should have come as no surprise, but it's fair to say the sound these pres produce blows much of the competition out of the water. The standout feature for us, however - particularly at this price - is the quality of the preamps, which sound excellent. It is most easily configured within the MixControl GUI, which keeps you updated with levels across all I/Os as well as allowing you to set up different mixes and monitor configurations that you can then toggle between on the fly. Once restarted, the Saffire is a snip to use. You'll also find a second bundled disc entitled Xcite+ Pack that contains some tasty extras, including Live Lite 7, a copy of the BassStation plug-in and some great samples. The Focusrite Suite installs four plug-ins (Compressor, EQ, Gate and Reverb), which can be activated via a serial number for up to four separate computers. ![]() ![]() If you're online during install, the installer even checks to see if a newer version of the software is available, which is a neat touch. Once you've popped in the bundled CD, you'll find there are two separate install processes, one for Saffire's 'software brain' MixControl software and the other for Focusrite's plug-in suite. ![]()
